HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning):
Keep filters clean- clogged filters cause problems with the unit. I use 30-day filters and change every month. 30-day filters, 90-day filters, whichever filters you choose for your unit, be sure to change them as often as needed. If your thermostat has a reminder feature, use it.
Clear Condensate Drain- your condensate line is responsible for removing the condensation that’s produced by the evaporator coil, draining it from the air handler to the outside of your house. Over time, sludge and buildup form in your condensate drain line. Once enough buildup accrues, the blockage will become too large and create a clog in the line, causing water to back up into the AC drain pan. I check mine several times a year and if needed, I pour AC drain line cleaner down the cleanout and use a wet/vac from outside to vacuum the sludge out. I also pay a trusted HVAC company to do yearly maintenance.
Clean Bathroom Exhaust Fan - bathroom exhaust vents remove excess moisture and unpleasant odors and can help reduce mold and mildew in certain areas. Clean the fan grilles, or covers, and the fan blades regularly. Be sure to turn off power properly before attempting to clean fan blades.
